| Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 vs Nvidia Tegra 4 |
A comparison between the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 and Nvidia Tegra 4 comes down to which one offers better overall performance. Both processors are used in mobile devices like tablets, smartphones, etc. and are known as SoC processors, or System on a Chip.
On one hand is the Snapdragon 800, which is a quad-core, 2.3GHz per core, processor that is capable of handling up to four simultaneous threads and sports a 2MB L2 cache. What’s also unique for the Snapdragon 800 is that the SoC itself comes equipped with an integrated antenna for cellular communication, which provides for lower power consumption and manufacturing costs of the whole device the SoC is used in.
On the other hand is the Nvidia Tegra 4, which is actually not as fast as the Snapdragon- 1.9GHz with 2MB of L2 cache- but the major difference here, and probably its selling point, is the fifth core the Tegra is equipped with. The fifth core’s job is to handle mundane tasks like keeping the device in standby mode or even playing music or videos, relieving the main cores of the chore- this, needless to say, leads to an increased battery life of the device.
Further down is more information about the two cores that support my comparison.
