I've known some users buy a laptop AMD thinking about gaming and they are satisfied , based in their reviews. . I have both: a toshiba i5 and lenovo A8, by now I feel some "better" in some way the lenovo , maybe its 16 GB RAM make some difference, I think the toshiba i5 (currently with 6 GB RAM) would be so good and maybe better performance iF I increase the RAM.
Yeah for gamers amd one otherwise intel
"It has a higher clock speed," That means nothing, absolutely, not a single thing. There are old pentium 4's that run 4 ghz from over a decade ago that can't compare to either of these. The amount the i5 does per clock cycle is higher. "and its Quad" Except AMD plays it loose with the term quad - pairs of cores share functional units, so for heavy loads, it acts like just two cores. You can see this clearly in the fact that even on multi-threaded benchmarks, the i5 scores higher. "the integrated in the A8 is alot faster and can even be used for modern games, just on low settings. " Not necessarily. Intel has been making strides in the last few years in IGP. The 4400 in this can beat the beema IGP in various games. The big advantage AMD has here is that it will support more games and MIGHT get more optimizations for them.
intel cpu w/6gb ram + 1TB or AMD cpu w/ 8gb ram + 500GB? just for youtube (video streaming), e-mail, possibly microsoft office. no games. will 2 gbs of ram overcome a large processor deficit when it comes to the millisecond difference of clicking speed plus the speed of opening programs and keeping them running smoothly? don't plan to even use 100gb of memory on the HD. i THINK the intel wins, but if any AMD person would like to state their case... i'm open ears
i need a laptop for cad (cumputer aided design)and iam intrusted in playing games which processor is best amd a8or Inteli5 i think i5+extrenal 2graphic card=amd a8 in performence right?
Sam I thank you so very much for your reply. I only have 14 days from Xmas to make an exchange if I wanted and if that dell with the i5 and 6g ram. I gotta say I'm surprised, bec the guy was confident the i5 with 6g ram 1tb HD was clearly better. ( they were both the same price so i don't think he would be lying for a sell) But I'm happy , very happy, that I don't have to hope that they get it in.stock and actually go thru the hassle of doing the exchange. Ya know, based on the guy in the store being so confident the Dell with the i5 6g ram was so much better, I'm surprised, (as i said earlier, maybe it was simply based on the 2 extra g of ram and extra 250gb hard drive ) I assumed the i5 was simply a much better processor than the Amd A8, im glad i was wrong very pleased..Afa adding the Ram, my laptop with the A8 is expandable up to 8g I will def look into that, hopefully it's not to hard of a process. Sam, thank you sir, very much!
Considering the specs above, and being a user of both the processors above, I can assure you that the performance will be pretty similar on both the systems. If you are concerned with the RAM, I would suggest you to keep the a8 with 4gb and throw in another 4gb chip which can be bought cheap these days on the internet (just make sure that you have extra RAM slot or just buy a single 8gb chip). If you simply consider the processors, a8 will slightly outperform the i5 due to higher base clock speed and more cores. Hope it helps.
Please someone reply, thanks
Hello All Would aprec very much if i could get the expertise of someone here who im sure has a bit more knowledge than me, if it all possible, thank you in advance. Ok it obv has to do with these 2 processors, here it goes. i currently am on a : HP with this Amd A8 4g ram 750hd Cost $450 Was forced to get this because the one i preferred they were out of. It was a Dell I5 4210u 6g ram 750hd Cost $450. I came to the conclusion that this was the best option bec of the processor/6gb) but again they were out of this so was forced to get the HP Amd A8. I have 14 days from Xmas to possibly exchange for the Dell i5 6g ram.. Now i DONT pc game, i just want the fastest best performing pc for everything other than gaming/editing videos/photoshop between these 2 laptops. My question is will the I5 outperform the Amd THAT much? Although i know they are the same price, so it i guess it shouldnt need to outperform it by that much really, I think the bigger thing here is the extra 2 g ram, right? maybe that is the bigger point that will make it perform better/combined with the i5, altho from the other comments i read, you guys dont think the i5 is that much better than the Amd, if at al( i know its quad vs dual) And if it would restock within 14 days of Xmas, i would have to go in and do the whole exchange thing. Ok im done, sorry all, what would you do? Is it no that much more of a difference? if its not, then im keeping the AMD, if it is, i think i have to consider the I5. Please help, much appreciated.
Buy AMD and be Happy :)
So, if i'm working with programing languages the best option would it be buy an AMD ?? any advice ?
Again thank you for your help Forfaxify. I think that is all I wanted to know. Thanks!!!! :)
No Problem Filipe :) Is there any other question you would like to ask?
I understand.... thanks for your help!!!
The A8... It has a higher clock speed, and its Quad... If your not planning on getting a dedicated videocard, the integrated in the A8 is alot faster and can even be used for modern games, just on low settings. Hope i helped..
