I built my wife an i3 2120, used it for ripping a movie and was blown away by how much faster it was than my 1090t. So I dumped AMD since the gen 2's were now in my price range and built an i5-2500 and i7-2600. With no other software loaded I saw the same 11000 kbps rip speeds. Sold the AMD cpus including my 1090t. Now the surprise, after loading up the i7 with games, antivirus and other software that I use, the rip speeds were now down to under 7000kbps, same as the 1090t. Oh, sure, the performance tests all showed the intel cpus to be faster, but when it came down to my use's, they aren't. The i5 is actually worse at multi-tasking than the 1045t I just put together. Guess I am not going to see the higher speed difference. Before you dump your AMD for Intel, make sure you will actually see a change. I will recover the money I wasted on a noticeably lower electric bill. Oh, I gave my wife the i5 and sold the i3 in favor of the 1045t..
