Post typed 6-24-2017. Might not reflect current prices/availability. Both the 6800k and the 6850k are top of the line, high-performance processors. THE ONLY reason to consider the 6850k as of the time I am typing this is that they are the same price on amazon. Both CPUs are insanely capable. Don't let the "low" clock-speed fool you (I can remember when 3.4 was top of the line fast), if you plan on upgrading to this cpu then you will be buying, or you already likely own an x99 Motherboard (I recommend Gigabyte x99 Ultra gaming edition), You can easily overclock this processor to 4.1 on stock voltage by changing the multiplier from 34 to 41. Using the 6800k with the previously mentioned motherboard and a corsair H55 cooler (59.99 Amazon) and a 2-pack of Aftermarket Fans in push-pull configuration (Corsair Air Series AF120 LED Quiet Edition High Airflow 19.42 Amazon) I am hitting 4.1 no problem, my system is very stable, and my proc very rarely touches 50c even when playing my favorite games (Doom, Skyrim) on ultra settings, or converting files/encoding videos.
