Desktop CPUs with the best Performance Per Dollar

Bought it to upgrade the computer I built using a Core2 Duo.

I can't fault AMD, this is somewhat better than a dual-core, but not by much.

With it's 4mb L2 cache, my rig is 6x faster now.

Low power consumption and compatible with just about any Socket AM2 board, in case you're not willing to blow $100 on a new Atom/ION(2) setup or AMD E-Series APU setup.

Anyone who's looked at this processor probably already knows what to expect from a Core 2 Duo clocked at 2.33.

The product description says this product is a quad core processor, but the technical description says dual core.

At 2.5GHz per core, the E5200 can handle most games and applications without any trouble at all, and the 45nm form factor makes it great for people worried about power consumption on their computer.

What's more, this has a duel core.

Rather than buy a new computer, I opted to replace the Celeron D with a used dual-core Pentium D 930 (also 3gHz) that I payed $27 for including shipping (by far the cheapest Pentium D I was able to find and a great performer as well).
