Reviews Word on the street for the Intel Core i7 4770K

A 15% to 25% increase in GPU performance over Ivy Bridge isn't going to be enough to replace a dedicated video card for gaming enthusiasts, but it does represent a solid step forward for the architecture as a whole.

Intel's Core, er, cores are fantastic.

What People Are Saying Give it to me straight

Socket Type

You have old school Intel HD Graphics at the bottom, followed by 4200,400 and 4600 for LGA 1150 processors.

They also support daisy chaining with new DisplayPort 1.2 support in Haswell, so expect to see more motherboards offering DisplayPort on the board.
by Legit Reviews (Jun, 2013)
But we're pretty sure there are 40 of them and that's over double the 16 units found in the fastest chips from the preceding generation of Intel processors, known as Ivy Bridge.

Benchmark Results: The x264 HD benchmark showed the Intel Core i7-4770K had very solid passes with 85.3 FPS on pass 1 and 17.3 FPS on pass 2.

A 300Mhz overclock past the CPUs Boost speed isn't that impressive, but we are CPU cooler limited.
by Legit Reviews (Jun, 2013)
Remember the Intel Core i7-3770K was 77W TDP and the Intel Core i7-4770K is now 84W TDP due to this.

It has great improvements when it comes to graphics and the CPU performance gains are hard to ignore.
by Legit Reviews (Jun, 2013)
It's done neither and the result is a CPU that's marginally faster in benchmark tests but doesn't deliver any additional performance you can actually feel.
by Tech Radar
We ran a few benchmarks and the scores were improved, but then we noticed that the CPU was throttling and hitting pretty high temperatures.
by Legit Reviews (Jun, 2013)

We'd seen the architectural briefs that revealed modest changes to the CPU cores while Intel had confirmed it would be four cores.
by Tech Radar
You could argue that Intel has refined its Core architecture to such a point that it's unrealistic to expect big steps forward.
by Tech Radar
Intel will only be releasing Core i7 and Core i5 Haswell processors for the time being.
by Legit Reviews (Jun, 2013)

That's not something that the new baseclock strap overclocking option is going to help with.
by Tech Radar
It's no better at overclocking, either, going by our early tests.
by Tech Radar
The chip includes a number of new capabilities and enhancements and is a notable step forward in CPU efficiency, but enthusiasts may be disappointed by its lower overclocking potential.
