I am VERY satisfied with this little budget quadcore and By overclocking it 1.1ghz over stock frequencies I think I got my money's worth.

Reviews Word on the street for the AMD Phenom II X4 840

9.4
I was easily able to OC it to 3.7ghz on my Cooler Master V6GT on 1.35Vcore.

What People Are Saying Give it to me straight

Socket Type

I installed the chip in my ASRock 990fx Am3+ board with a H100 cpu water cooler and it ran like a charm.
by dstoler (Nov, 2011)
If I jumped it to 1.4-1.45 I could probably get 3.8/4ghz outta this thing, but I don't want to risk frying it.
by snipekill2445 (May, 2012)
Temps were only 50c 3 hours of blend testing in Prime95.
by dstoler (Nov, 2011)

Socket

I tried to go to 4.1 Ghz and hit a wall in the voltages.
by dstoler (Nov, 2011)
I only use my system for gaming, paired with 6GB of 1500mhz ram and a HD 6950 and I can max out almost all games like Skyrim, BFBC2 and MW3.
by snipekill2445 (May, 2012)
I did need to OC it to 3.6ghz to solve my GPU bottleneck though.
by snipekill2445 (May, 2012)

Overclocking

I wanted to get the most for my money so I researched ALOT on OCN and other sites about how to overclock.
by dstoler (Nov, 2011)
I have had 2 of these chips now (sold one) and have yet to see a 24/7 overclock of this cpu higher than mine.
by dstoler (Nov, 2011)

Multicore

That fact that it is a quad-core for such a low price is incredible.
by snipekill2445 (May, 2012)

Cooling

With proper Board and cooling it overclocks awesome!
