5 Out of 10

At this price point, you can't afford to be picky.
by Tech Radar (Sep, 2010)
I wanted to see how far i could push this baby so i shot for 4.1Ghz @ 1.52v and it was rock solid throughout without so much as even a single BSOD.

Reviews Word on the street for the AMD Athlon II X3 435

6.0
As for Intel chips, it will be interesting to see if the Athlon II X3 makes for a realistic cut price alternative to some of Intel's latest dual-core, quad-thread processors such as the Core i5 661.

9.4
Right now I'm running it at 3.7GHz, up from the original 2.9GHz, and all my games like Bad Company 2, Mafia 2, Deus Ex, Team Fortress 2 run extremely smooth.

Overall

7.7 Out of 10

What People Are Saying Give it to me straight

Multicore

Because it's based on the quad-core Propus processor, it's possible to unlock the fourth and final core.
by Tech Radar (Sep, 2010)
Unfortunately, the 4th core was unstable.
by PunkX-1 (Dec, 2011)
You've got a higher clocking quad-core chip, gratis.
by Tech Radar (Sep, 2010)

Socket Type

But the difference is small enough to be academic: 37 frames per second compared to 35 in World of Conflict.
by Tech Radar (Sep, 2010)
The X3 435 that i had bought for my dad's computer is clocked at a modest 2.9Ghz with 1.5 MB L2 cache and a TDP count of 95W.
by PunkX-1 (Dec, 2011)
I had upgraded to this processor from a Core 2 Duo E4500 and my jaw dropped as i saw average frames shoot right up and encoding time shoot right down.
by PunkX-1 (Dec, 2011)

Price

I'm sure that this CPU will bottleneck much more powerful cards, but for the price, this processor cannot be beat.
by Frank08 (Nov, 2011)
Put simply, you'll get your video encoding and content creation sessions finished faster with the cheaper quad-core chip.
by Tech Radar (Sep, 2010)

Applications

But after using it, I have not seem any dramatic decrease in the games that I play.
by Frank08 (Nov, 2011)
However, as time passed by and people started noticing the numbers the X3 had started raking in, in games and multi-theaded apps alike, it became an instant smash.
by PunkX-1 (Dec, 2011)

Socket

It's certainly up against some pretty stiff in-house competition from the likes of the quad-core AMD Athlon II X4 620.
